The Ultimate Buying Guide: Choosing Your Excalibur Crossbow
Excalibur is a legendary name in the world of crossbows. They focus on recurve technology. This design is simple, reliable, and very accurate. If you want a crossbow that lasts a lifetime, Excalibur is a top choice. Use this guide to find the perfect model for your needs.
Key Features to Look For
- Draw Weight: This determines how much power the bow has. Higher draw weight means more speed.
- Speed (FPS): Most Excalibur models shoot between 300 and 400 feet per second. Faster arrows have a flatter trajectory.
- Weight and Balance: A lighter bow is easier to carry in the woods. Make sure the weight feels balanced in your hands.
- Safety Features: Look for an anti-dry-fire system. This protects you and the bow if you fire it without an arrow.
Important Materials
Excalibur uses high-quality materials to build their bows. The limbs are made from reinforced composite. These limbs handle extreme stress without breaking. The frames usually feature aircraft-grade aluminum. This makes them tough but lightweight. You will also find premium strings that resist stretching. These materials ensure your bow works in rain, snow, or heat.
Factors That Affect Quality
Maintenance is the biggest factor for quality. Because Excalibur uses a recurve design, you can change the string yourself in the field. This improves your experience significantly. A high-quality scope also changes everything. A clear, illuminated scope helps you hit targets in low-light conditions. Poor maintenance, like not waxing your string, will reduce the life of your bow. Always keep your rail lubricated to ensure smooth shots.
User Experience and Use Cases
Excalibur crossbows are perfect for hunters who value simplicity. You do not need a bow press to fix them. This makes them great for backcountry hunts. They are also very popular for target shooting. Because they have fewer moving parts than compound bows, they rarely malfunction. Whether you are hunting deer or shooting at a range, these bows provide a consistent and enjoyable experience.
